N.V. Henri Giraud Champagne Francois Hemart Ay Grand Cru Brut Rose (France, Champagne)
A really nice Rose, especially for the price point. Highly versatile to pair with lots of dishes.

Salmon pink in color. Very fine, persistent beads that bring out very light oxidative character with it’s earthy, lively thick honey coated red fruits, cherry and very fresh floral fragrance, serious aromatic profile yet the sense of friendliness make you like it more. The fine beads gently explode on the palate that form the elegance, silly smooth mouth feel with terrific freshness along with bright fruited flavor profile with honey, yeasty, cookies that culminated into serious complexity for the price as well as superb balance, vibrant and polished texture with juicy, chewy finish with harmonious and elegance. Really like this and this is on par with the Henri Billiot Rose which is more powerful and oxidative in style. Buy – Yes.
1986 Château Gruaud Larose (France, Bordeaux, Médoc, St. Julien)
At last, I got to try a 80s Gruaud Larose which was showing fabulously well and I was surprised how well a great Gruaud Larose able to age and show. Next target, 1982!
Stil very dark ruby that seems barely age for a 25yrs old wine. Captivating, beautiful nose of an aged Bordeaux, to be precise, St-Julien that showing off the highly perfume cigar box, tobacco, sweet blackcurrant with secondary aromas of earth, truffle and a dash of grounded coffee beans that added even more complexity to the already stunning and seductive aromatic profile. This quintessential, med-bodied St-Julien is well delineated with velvety, gorgeous texture that leads to super fine and great liveliness along with complex flavors of blackberry, flower, cigar box, spices, melted dark chocolate, meatiness and earthiness. Everything is so perfectly balance, still showing some silky fine tannin and muscle that pending to be fully integrated. Amazing fresh, harmoniously long, clean, detail finish. A classic claret showing great class, finesse and grace that will impress the taster slowly, gently instead of strike you at the first taste. Will be at it’s plateau in another 5yrs time? Buy – Yes.
