2005 Domaine Robert Groffier @ Taka by Aoki (20110310)

Dinner at Torisho Taka by Aoki,  a Japanese restaurant focus on Yakitori. Not too sure what to order as this is my first visit, so my friend in-charged for the ordered. Price wise, it is above average but definitely worth it. We have some lovely Yakitori, real yummy Tomato salad and Kobe Sashimi. The rock melon and orange from Shizuoka is stunning too. My another friend who used to dine here recommended Taka Ramen too.

Corkage is applicable @ S$30 ++ which I think is quick fair.

Worth to mention that the ventilation system is real good, we left the restaurant without any chickeny, beefy etc etc ‘aromas’ on our shirt or so.

Tasting Notes:

2007 Maison Lou Dumont Meursault (France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Meursault)

-> 3rd time to have this and wasn’t enjoy as much as today not only because this bottle showing best condition, also I finally found a dish that can match perfectly well with this wine, the Chawanmushi.

  • Expressive nose of butter, peppery spices, white fruits and earth. The mid palate is lacking a little bit of fruits with acidity on the high side resulted of acidic and sharp edge, but also keep the wine in focus with medium length mineral finish. This pair quite well with the Saba fish, but it was perfectly paired with the ‘chicken stock chawanmushi’ which the rich chicken stock counterbalance of the acidity, the wine become more rounded, creamier and showing more Meursault in character with really clean profile.

2005 Domaine Robert Groffier Gevrey-Chambertin (France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Gevrey-Chambertin)

-> Paired well with the Kobe Beef Sashimi.

  • Alcohol :: 13%
    Pop & poured. Surprisingly this wine already expressive on the nose with earth, wild factor, fresh red cherry fruits with perfume floral while the palate is not as singing as the nose, it is quite approachable, rich, powerful palate with very firm, fine-grained tannin that showing off it’s Gevrey profile with precise finish. The wine keep evolving in the decanter which display even more perfume aromas of rose petal and mushroom as well as gaining more weight on the palate, sweet fresh red cherry fruits that is remarkably pure with earthy tones, better integration with detail long finish. A village punching to 1er cru status and will only get better when its ready. Buy – Yes.
