Had a really great lunch with my visitors in Les Amis. As usual, the food today is excellent. 2000 Laurent-Perrier Champagne Brut Millésimé is a decent Champagne, refreshing and delicate, not too heavy and paired well with the black truffle Salmon Tartar and Lightly smoked eel ‘tiede’ with crispy pork crouton.
The homemade ramp leave pasta with poached maine lobster has a very delicate and chewy texture, fresh with natural sweetness which was a perfect match with the 1996 Domaine Leflaive Bienvenues-Bâtard-Montrachet: elegance, classy and refine profile that is powerful but never heavy. Needless to say, the mature 1982 Trotanoy with barnyard, game is a serious marriage with the Oven Roasted Lamb Chop and opulent sweet dark fruits flavors ‘juice’ up the Lamb. What a day!
2000 Laurent-Perrier Champagne Brut Millésimé (France, Champagne)
- Very fresh, especially for the crisp minerality that soar from the glass accompany by aromas of white and citrus fruits with touch of green herbs that continue to show the crisp minerality and freshness on the quite intense palate with flavor of green apple, lemon. Worth to mention is that the moose is very fine and persistent which gently caressing the palate to create fullish mouth feel and carry the flavor and freshness to the medium finish effortlessly. A good wine but seems lack a little bit of the mid palate tension.
1996 Domaine Leflaive Bienvenues-Bâtard-Montrachet (France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Bienvenues-Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru) (France, Champagne)
-> This wine continuously evolving and getting more and more seductive throughout the lunch, this will eventually be a great great wine when come to its peak (under proper storage condition).
- Beautiful, elegance complex aromas of chamomile, lots of mild cold herbs with perfume white floral and fruits that surrounded by fresh, crisp mineral with just a little touch of creamy, lemon custard. While the nose is absolutely live up to the fame, the palate is even better, not the sheer volume and class of a chevalier nor as power and rich as the Batard, instead, this is stunningly harmonious and elegance with superb bright fruits that show off the purity and flirt around with layer and layer of polished, refine minerality and cold herbs all supporting firmly by the high acidity of 96 vintage but the acid is ripe and mouth watering hence the focus, precision as well as transparency. The finished is remarkably long and complex too, with pure white fruits and cold herbs nuanced that’s linger. Entering secondary stage and will need many more years to be fully mature. I love this. Buy – Yes.
1982 Château Trotanoy (France, Bordeaux, Libournais, Pomerol)
- Beautiful expressive bouquet of jammy dark fruits, plum, blackcurrant, liquorice, leather and soil with some spices and barynard at the background. Broad shoulder and focus. This is slightly more mature than my 1st bottle, but still, sense of youth deep within. Fullish, opulence palate of remarkably concentration of lush, sweet dark fruits, roasted herb, leather and little touch of barnyard tones that introduce to the mid palate complexity, purity and power. Well polished and firm tannin present and connect to the mid palate and enhance the power and grip. However, the finished is lack a little bit of acid lift hence not as long and powerful as my 1st bottle. Bottle variation perhaps, however, a good wine nevertheless.
